For the second year in a row, J.D. Power’s U.S. Initial Quality Study honoured the iconic Soul with the highest ranking in its segment. Moreover, the Sportage also ranked highest among small SUVs, as it continues to impress drivers the world over.    The stylish Sportage’s crossover also scored big points with a recent Red Dot award for Product Design, one of the most prestigious international product design competitions. The new Sportage isn’t the only vehicle to receive a coveted ‘Red Dot’, the Optima sedan did as well. In fact, the Kia Optima was bestowed with a ‘Best of the Best’ award, the competition’s highest distinction, for which only the most ground-breaking designs in a category are eligible.   Finally, reinforcing Kia’s ongoing commitment to safety and continuous improvement, the all-new 2017 Kia Sportage also earned a Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2016 Optima and Sportage also received a Top Safety Pick Plus, while the Sedona and Soul received an equally impressive Top Safety Pick.    From compact to crossover, every Kia is built with precision engineering, outstanding performance, innovative features, and advanced safety systems. SPORTAGE SAFETY STORY

15. July 2016 16:20 by Administrator | 0 Comments

In April of 2016, Jessica Lewis-Michaud of Sherbrooke, QC, had an unbelievable and life-changing experience. Jessica recounted the day their Kia Sportage saved their lives on Facebook when she shared this post with us. “I got in a bad car accident with my Kia sportage 2016, as you can see my car is a total loss, but my passenger and I (and the baby I carry) are all fine, nothing broken, no open wounds, no internal bleeding. Just bruises and a rubbing burn due to the belt being right on my skin. I give this Kia car a 5 stars for the security, if it wasn’t for the air bags we could of been way more injured and I could have lost the baby.” It’s reasons like this that we put such a relentless and significant focus on the safety of our vehicles. We’ve heard many other incredible stories just like Jessica’s where drivers and their families have walked away, injury free, from collisions in their Kia vehicles and it makes it all worthwhile.  We are very proud to be able to say that the Kia Sportage (link to: www.kia.ca/sportage) has been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, has won a Red Dot Award for its design and has even been named the Highest Ranked Small SUV in Initial Quality by J.D. Power. But nothing makes us more proud than knowing we’ve helped protect and even save the lives of our drivers and their family members.

The 2016 Sorento: Capable quality

17. March 2016 16:21 by Administrator | 0 Comments

Since its launch, the 2016 Sorento has attracted the attention of auto industry professionals and drivers alike. For us, it’s no surprise that the available features in this midsized SUV have appealed to such a broad range of fans. After all, it was made for life’s adventures – whatever yours may be. But all of this attention isn’t due to simply including features like an available advanced Dynamax All-Wheel Drive system or any of the advanced safety features, it’s due to the quality and performance of them.   For instance, it’s the little things, like how the available auto-levelling Xenon HID headlights flow with the sleek lines and sculpted contours of the Sorento that garnered it the iF Design (link to:http://ifworlddesignguide.com/search?q=sorento#/page/entry/151841-kia-sorento) and Red Dot Design Awards (link to: http://red-dot.de/pd/online-exhibition/work/?lang=en&code=27-01738-2015&y=2015&c=166&a=0). Or how the use of Ultra High-Strength Steel throughout its structure contributed to it becoming an IIHS Top Safety Pick (link to: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/kia/sorento-4-door-suv/2016) and an NHTSA Five Star Safety Pick (link to: http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Shoppers/5-Star+Safety+Ratings/2011-Newer+Vehicles/Vehicle-Detail?vehicleId=10023).         The Sorento doesn’t just look the part, it acts it. All the design, features, technology, safety, and performance you want in an SUV is there. What makes it such a standout performer is that you can get all of these premium features without the premium price. This puts the Sorento into a category of its own, where it’s been able to top some of the biggest, most sought after names in the industry in quality rankings – like it did in 2015 when JD Power named it the highest ranked midsized SUV in Initial Quality (link to: http://canada.jdpower.com/microsites/kia/home). Then just a few months ago, Automotive Journalist Association of Canada (AJAC) named the 2016 Sorento the Best New SUV/CUV (link to: http://www.ajac.ca/web/) in the $35,000 - $60,000 segment, which is quite a feat considering the competition it was up against.   If you’re in the market for a new SUV, then there’s no doubt you’re also looking for one with great reviews to go along with impressive accolades. When it comes to reviews, most look to Consumer Reports for their clear, honest and unbiased product testing. Now, based on their most recent testing, we’re asking you to do the same. Whether you’re a current owner or future buyer, you have to see how 2016 Sorento ranked based on its performance, reliability, consumer satisfaction and safety on the Consumer Reports site [LINK TO: http://www.consumerreports.org/cars/best-cars-top-picks-2016/]. You can also find out what they loved about the engine, interior and crash test results by reading their full report [LINK TO: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/kia-sorento.htm].     For more information about the 2016 Sorento and its full list of exciting available features that were made for your life’s adventures, visit Kia.ca/Sorento [LINK TO: www.kia.ca/sorento].

J.D. Power thinks the 2015 Kia Sedona is APEAL-ing. We agree!

22. July 2015 15:35 by Administrator | 0 Comments

We are thrilled to announce that the 2015 Kia Sedona has won the APEAL award in the J.D. Power Minivan segment. APEAL stands for: A Pretty Extraordinary Automotive League (just kidding) but it might as well! The study in fact looks at Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) of a particular vehicle.  Historically with our brand, the APEAL award has usually been associated with the Kia Soul which, before this year had won the award three consecutive years in a row in the Compact Multi-Purpose vehicle segment. However, this year it’s the Sedona’s turn in the spotlight. When designing the Sedona, Kia wanted to put families first. The Smart-Power Liftgate, dual panoramic sunroofs, and unparalleled safety features helped achieve this task. The Sedona reinvents what a minivan should be: not only safe and reliable but premium, luxurious, and built with cutting edge design. As the Kia brand continues to grow and improve, we are both overjoyed and humbled by the recognition our vehicles are getting. Along with the J.D Power IQS awards we received for the Kia Soul and the Kia Sorento, this has been one of the best years yet! We are movin’ on up- and we can’t wait to share the ride with all of you!

Kia achieves highest ranking yet in 2015 JD Power Initial Quality Study

17. June 2015 11:47 by Administrator | 0 Comments

Kia is back and stronger than ever with an impressive year in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study (IQS).  Recently, a historic milestone was reached when J.D. Power recognized Kia as highest ranked among non-luxury brands and the second-highest scoring nameplate industry-wide. Kia’s IQS score improved by 20 points since 2014 moving up four spots to second, behind Porsche and ahead of Jaguar, making it the second-highest tally among 33 automotive brands!  In this year’s Initial Quality Study (IQS), the Soul once again made its way back to the top of the “Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle” segment while the Sorento claimed its title as the “Top Midsize SUV.” Additionally, the Rio, Optima, Cadenza, Sportage and Sedona also ranked in the top three of their respective segments! One of the most crucial forms of research within the automotive industry is based on the measurement of product performance and reviews. From calculating safety ratings to horsepower, vehicle features, fuel economy and cargo capacity, prospective buyers are given an idea of just how much a vehicle has to offer. Information services like J.D. Power and Associates specialize in capturing, measuring and analyzing the sentiments of millions of consumers who already own the product of mention. By capturing these insights, their goal is to represent the voice of the customer to ultimately drive improvement in a wide range of products and services. In the end, these third party groups will empirically recognize the brands that stand out as the top performers in their categories. Among the variety of metrics analysed by J.D. Power, the most prestigious report is the Initial Quality Study (IQS). This study examines owner-reported problems occurring within the first 90 days of owning a new vehicle such as breakdowns, malfunctions or user friendliness of the vehicle features. Once compiled, a score is allotted to every competing vehicle. In the 2015 study, a total of 244 vehicle models were ranked based on the responses of over 84,000 U.S. new-vehicle owners! Throughout time, Kia has steadily climbed J.D. Power’s annual IQS rankings. After the Soul was ranked number one in the “Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle” segment in 2012, Kia made the list of “Top 10” in 2013, with the Soul and Sportage taking top honours in their respective segments. In 2014, Kia jumped all the way to sixth place in the industry, with top honours going to the impressive Cadenza and a back-to-back win for the Sportage. It is a truly special time to be a Kia owner and prospective buyer as the 2015 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study leaves no doubt that the brand is building quality world-class vehicles. Thanks to the voice of its customers, Kia has been able to consistently improve its score in the IQS study to further strengthen the “Power to Surprise” and delight customers everywhere. With an obsessive focus on quality and a ‘zero-defect’ mindset, no one should be surprised to see Kia and its innovative lineup at the top of the list in the years ahead!
