The Superfan Experience

1. December 2016 14:58 by Administrator | 0 Comments

The Superfan contest is an annual event Kia holds to celebrate it’s most loyal, enthusiastic and die-hard fans. The winners get an all-inclusive trip for two to Seoul, Korea where they get to experience the culture, take in the rich history of the country and get a private tour of the Kia plant. To enter, fans submit a written entry that explains what makes them Kia’s biggest Superfan.      One of this year’s winners was Heather Corbett, who after 7 years and 250,000km, says her Soul has changed her life in so many ways. Shortly after buying her Soul, Heather joined the Soul Club of Ontario and became an administrator on their website. She even met her boyfriend at a club meet. Now she enjoys browsing the forums, talking to new friends on Facebook, going to car shows and weekly coffee meets, and even hosting members from as far as England. Another winner this year was Nevin Sendel, who was an early adopter of the Kia brand. His first Kia was a 2004 Magentis that his family loved so much that they bought it after their lease was up. Unfortunately, his sons were both involved in bad accidents, one in the Magentis and the other in their 2014 Optima. Thankfully, both times, they walked away without a scratch. That’s what’s kept Nevin and his family behind the wheel of a Kia. When they arrived in South Korea, Heather and Nevin and their partners were taken to the luxurious Lotte World Hotel where they had welcome gifts waiting and translators to help them enjoy their exciting days ahead. On the first full day, they learned about the history, culture and customs of South Korea with a guided tour of a Korean Folk Village and a buffet lunch. Then they headed back to the hotel for a formal welcome dinner complete with entertainment. Next up was a fascinating tour of both the Kia assembly plant and steel plant where they learned about these environmentally friendly facilities and the products they make. That evening, they went to Samwon Garden for a traditional Korean BBQ dinner. Finally, on their last full day, they were treated to a trip to a Royal Palace where they took in the country’s history and enjoyed the beautiful scenery with mountains in the background. That afternoon, they were able to explore Insadong Street while shopping for souvenirs before heading to a farewell party, dinner and entertainment on the unique Sevit floating island. They’ll never forget the memories and friends made on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. If you haven’t had a chance to discover the beauty of South Korea, stay tuned for next year’s Superfan contest when you’ll have the chance to tell your story!

Kia Canada Sends Two Superfans to Korea as part of Customer Loyalty Program 2015

7. October 2015 11:06 by Administrator | 0 Comments

Since 2012, Kia Canada has scoured the country to find the ultimate Superfan. Now in its third year, Kia is offering two grand prizes of round trips to Korea where winners will enjoy a 3-night and 4-day stay, from September 21st to 25th as well as a guided tour of Kia headquarters and the cultural cityscapes of Seoul, South Korea.  To win, fans had up to 2,000 words to explain what makes them the biggest Kia Superfan. This year’s winners are:  Frederick Alarie and his wife Isabelle have been part of the Kia family for fourteen years. Their four children keep them young at heart and their Kia vehicles in good use. Over the years, they have enjoyed three Sedona models and a Soul to “taxi” their children to all their events and activities. Next on their radar is the newest generation Soul to add to their charming family. As huge soccer fans, Frederick and Isabelle look forward to supporting their favourite MLS team: the Montreal Impact along with their healthy growing band of Kia enthusiasts. We think the Alarie family members are our most enthusiastic Superfans yet!      Dan MacNeil fell in love with the Optima for its sleek, sophisticated body lines and high-performance handling. Dan and his wife have 5 kids, so the Optima was always out of reach until last year when this longtime admirer and advocate finally got the “go-ahead” from his wife to purchase his sporty Optima. Now, he is eager to make other drivers jealous of his 6th ”baby.”     Some of our previous Superfan winners have shared their wonderful stories and even started a following! They are:   Sebastien Fortin, who after buying a Forte Koup SX in 2010 started a Forte car club in Quebec. Since its beginning, the club has expanded to include all Kia models and now has almost 1,400 members.   Elaine Baird, who bought a Soul in 2011, named it "Emma” and created a fantastic blog about it.   Trevor Smith, who bought a Rondo in 2008 and traded it for a 2012 Kia Soul. Trevor is a regular contributor to online Kia forums, with thousands of posts since 2007.   David Poirier, who has owned five Kia vehicles since 1999 and even convinced his father to buy Kia vehicles. Since then, he and his father have owned eleven Kias between them. In 2012, he drove up to his wedding in a brand new Kia Rio. Join us in celebrating Kia’s superfans and global ambassadors! We aim to continue this contest in the years to come in celebration of our loyal and extraordinary Kia fans. This program and contest celebrates loyal and extraordinary Kia fans by bringing them closer to the heart of its origins and rewarding them with a trip of a lifetime.
