Kia Canada Sends Two Superfans to Korea as part of Customer Loyalty Program 2015

7. October 2015 11:06 by Administrator | 0 Comments

Since 2012, Kia Canada has scoured the country to find the ultimate Superfan. Now in its third year, Kia is offering two grand prizes of round trips to Korea where winners will enjoy a 3-night and 4-day stay, from September 21st to 25th as well as a guided tour of Kia headquarters and the cultural cityscapes of Seoul, South Korea.  To win, fans had up to 2,000 words to explain what makes them the biggest Kia Superfan. This year’s winners are:  Frederick Alarie and his wife Isabelle have been part of the Kia family for fourteen years. Their four children keep them young at heart and their Kia vehicles in good use. Over the years, they have enjoyed three Sedona models and a Soul to “taxi” their children to all their events and activities. Next on their radar is the newest generation Soul to add to their charming family. As huge soccer fans, Frederick and Isabelle look forward to supporting their favourite MLS team: the Montreal Impact along with their healthy growing band of Kia enthusiasts. We think the Alarie family members are our most enthusiastic Superfans yet!      Dan MacNeil fell in love with the Optima for its sleek, sophisticated body lines and high-performance handling. Dan and his wife have 5 kids, so the Optima was always out of reach until last year when this longtime admirer and advocate finally got the “go-ahead” from his wife to purchase his sporty Optima. Now, he is eager to make other drivers jealous of his 6th ”baby.”     Some of our previous Superfan winners have shared their wonderful stories and even started a following! They are:   Sebastien Fortin, who after buying a Forte Koup SX in 2010 started a Forte car club in Quebec. Since its beginning, the club has expanded to include all Kia models and now has almost 1,400 members.   Elaine Baird, who bought a Soul in 2011, named it "Emma” and created a fantastic blog about it.   Trevor Smith, who bought a Rondo in 2008 and traded it for a 2012 Kia Soul. Trevor is a regular contributor to online Kia forums, with thousands of posts since 2007.   David Poirier, who has owned five Kia vehicles since 1999 and even convinced his father to buy Kia vehicles. Since then, he and his father have owned eleven Kias between them. In 2012, he drove up to his wedding in a brand new Kia Rio. Join us in celebrating Kia’s superfans and global ambassadors! We aim to continue this contest in the years to come in celebration of our loyal and extraordinary Kia fans. This program and contest celebrates loyal and extraordinary Kia fans by bringing them closer to the heart of its origins and rewarding them with a trip of a lifetime.

J.D. Power thinks the 2015 Kia Sedona is APEAL-ing. We agree!

22. July 2015 15:35 by Administrator | 0 Comments

We are thrilled to announce that the 2015 Kia Sedona has won the APEAL award in the J.D. Power Minivan segment. APEAL stands for: A Pretty Extraordinary Automotive League (just kidding) but it might as well! The study in fact looks at Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) of a particular vehicle.  Historically with our brand, the APEAL award has usually been associated with the Kia Soul which, before this year had won the award three consecutive years in a row in the Compact Multi-Purpose vehicle segment. However, this year it’s the Sedona’s turn in the spotlight. When designing the Sedona, Kia wanted to put families first. The Smart-Power Liftgate, dual panoramic sunroofs, and unparalleled safety features helped achieve this task. The Sedona reinvents what a minivan should be: not only safe and reliable but premium, luxurious, and built with cutting edge design. As the Kia brand continues to grow and improve, we are both overjoyed and humbled by the recognition our vehicles are getting. Along with the J.D Power IQS awards we received for the Kia Soul and the Kia Sorento, this has been one of the best years yet! We are movin’ on up- and we can’t wait to share the ride with all of you!

Kia achieves highest ranking yet in 2015 JD Power Initial Quality Study

17. June 2015 11:47 by Administrator | 0 Comments

Kia is back and stronger than ever with an impressive year in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study (IQS).  Recently, a historic milestone was reached when J.D. Power recognized Kia as highest ranked among non-luxury brands and the second-highest scoring nameplate industry-wide. Kia’s IQS score improved by 20 points since 2014 moving up four spots to second, behind Porsche and ahead of Jaguar, making it the second-highest tally among 33 automotive brands!  In this year’s Initial Quality Study (IQS), the Soul once again made its way back to the top of the “Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle” segment while the Sorento claimed its title as the “Top Midsize SUV.” Additionally, the Rio, Optima, Cadenza, Sportage and Sedona also ranked in the top three of their respective segments! One of the most crucial forms of research within the automotive industry is based on the measurement of product performance and reviews. From calculating safety ratings to horsepower, vehicle features, fuel economy and cargo capacity, prospective buyers are given an idea of just how much a vehicle has to offer. Information services like J.D. Power and Associates specialize in capturing, measuring and analyzing the sentiments of millions of consumers who already own the product of mention. By capturing these insights, their goal is to represent the voice of the customer to ultimately drive improvement in a wide range of products and services. In the end, these third party groups will empirically recognize the brands that stand out as the top performers in their categories. Among the variety of metrics analysed by J.D. Power, the most prestigious report is the Initial Quality Study (IQS). This study examines owner-reported problems occurring within the first 90 days of owning a new vehicle such as breakdowns, malfunctions or user friendliness of the vehicle features. Once compiled, a score is allotted to every competing vehicle. In the 2015 study, a total of 244 vehicle models were ranked based on the responses of over 84,000 U.S. new-vehicle owners! Throughout time, Kia has steadily climbed J.D. Power’s annual IQS rankings. After the Soul was ranked number one in the “Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle” segment in 2012, Kia made the list of “Top 10” in 2013, with the Soul and Sportage taking top honours in their respective segments. In 2014, Kia jumped all the way to sixth place in the industry, with top honours going to the impressive Cadenza and a back-to-back win for the Sportage. It is a truly special time to be a Kia owner and prospective buyer as the 2015 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study leaves no doubt that the brand is building quality world-class vehicles. Thanks to the voice of its customers, Kia has been able to consistently improve its score in the IQS study to further strengthen the “Power to Surprise” and delight customers everywhere. With an obsessive focus on quality and a ‘zero-defect’ mindset, no one should be surprised to see Kia and its innovative lineup at the top of the list in the years ahead!

Especially when those behind the wheel are the industry’s toughest critics: automotive journalists. The AJAC’s rigorous evaluation process is based on back-to-back testing in a real-world setting to ensure the results have relevance for consumers. Every member of a test team compares each vehicle in its class – back-to-back, on the same roads and in the same conditions – to ensure a fair evaluation. After conducting their annual test drive of new vehicles in Niagara Falls in late October, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has determined that 2015 will be an excellent year for Kia, as the brand has taken top honours with its first ever all-electric vehicle in its very first year of production. On December 2nd, the 2015 Kia Soul EV was announced the winner of the Best New City Car category. This continues a winning streak for Kia, having won the 2014 AJAC award for Best New Family Car Under $30,000 with the 2014 Kia Soul, and the Best New SUV ($35,000 - $60,000) with the 2014 Kia Sorento. With the Soul EV, Kia was able to make the award-winning Soul even more eco-friendly without sacrificing interior space or versatility. The new Soul EV boasts a comfortable interior with certain components crafted from bio-based antibacterial materials. This earned the Soul EV the first-ever UL Environmental validation in the automotive sector. And the Soul EV’s engine is no less remarkable, with a 360V electric motor that can instantly produce 210 lb-ft. of torque, capable of traveling a combined city/highway distance of up to 149 km on a single charge. With the Soul EV, Kia made sure to do it right by exploring every avenue of going green. This new electric vehicle is a testament to Kia’s “Power To Surprise”. With so many firsts involved in the production and release of the Soul EV, this is clearly, for Kia and their legions of fans and drivers, a cause for celebration.
