The Superfan Experience

1. December 2016 14:58 by Administrator | 0 Comments

The Superfan contest is an annual event Kia holds to celebrate it’s most loyal, enthusiastic and die-hard fans. The winners get an all-inclusive trip for two to Seoul, Korea where they get to experience the culture, take in the rich history of the country and get a private tour of the Kia plant. To enter, fans submit a written entry that explains what makes them Kia’s biggest Superfan.

One of this year’s winners was Heather Corbett, who after 7 years and 250,000km, says her Soul has changed her life in so many ways. Shortly after buying her Soul, Heather joined the Soul Club of Ontario and became an administrator on their website. She even met her boyfriend at a club meet. Now she enjoys browsing the forums, talking to new friends on Facebook, going to car shows and weekly coffee meets, and even hosting members from as far as England.

Another winner this year was Nevin Sendel, who was an early adopter of the Kia brand. His first Kia was a 2004 Magentis that his family loved so much that they bought it after their lease was up. Unfortunately, his sons were both involved in bad accidents, one in the Magentis and the other in their 2014 Optima. Thankfully, both times, they walked away without a scratch. That’s what’s kept Nevin and his family behind the wheel of a Kia.

When they arrived in South Korea, Heather and Nevin and their partners were taken to the luxurious Lotte World Hotel where they had welcome gifts waiting and translators to help them enjoy their exciting days ahead. On the first full day, they learned about the history, culture and customs of South Korea with a guided tour of a Korean Folk Village and a buffet lunch.

Then they headed back to the hotel for a formal welcome dinner complete with entertainment. Next up was a fascinating tour of both the Kia assembly plant and steel plant where they learned about these environmentally friendly facilities and the products they make. That evening, they went to Samwon Garden for a traditional Korean BBQ dinner. Finally, on their last full day, they were treated to a trip to a Royal Palace where they took in the country’s history and enjoyed the beautiful scenery with mountains in the background. That afternoon, they were able to explore Insadong Street while shopping for souvenirs before heading to a farewell party, dinner and entertainment on the unique Sevit floating island.

They’ll never forget the memories and friends made on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. If you haven’t had a chance to discover the beauty of South Korea, stay tuned for next year’s Superfan contest when you’ll have the chance to tell your story!
